NEW YORK, Nov. 8 (UPI) -- "The Naked Cowboy," Robert John Burck, has settled his lawsuit against the candymaker Mars for allegedly stealing his look for ads in New York.

The confidential settlement was reached Friday in U.S. District Court, the New York Daily News reported Saturday.

Burck, who runs around Times Square in his underwear with his guitar, sued Mars last winter over two Times Square billboards and a mural that depicted an M&M candy in white shorts holding a guitar. Burck said the ads gave the impression he endorsed their product.

U.S. District Judge Denny Chin had ruled last year that the false endorsement lawsuit could continue.
