LONDON, Nov. 6 (UPI) -- Benny Andersson, a former member of the iconic Swedish pop group ABBA, said there are no plans to make a sequel to the film "Mamma Mia!"
The blockbuster movie is based on an equally popular stage musical of the same name. Both the film and the theatrical production are chock-full of ABBA hits like "Take a Chance on Me," "S.O.S.," "Dancing Queen," "Honey, Honey," "Money, Money, Money," "The Winner Takes it All" and, of course, "Mamma Mia!"
"There is no talk of a sequel," Andersson told BBC News, admitting Universal Pictures "would like a sequel because they're just flabbergasted at the success -- more than anyone, I think."
"If (screenwriter Catherine Johnson) comes up with something, if she's keen on it, then maybe she'll call us," Andersson added.
The first film co-starred Meryl Streep, Pierce Brosnan, Colin Firth, Amanda Seyfried, Julie Walters and Christine Baranski.
The four original members of ABBA -- Andersson, Bjorn Ulvaeus, Agnetha Faltskog and Anni-Frid Lyngstad -- turned out for the movie's Stockholm premiere, the BBC said. The group broke up in 1982.
