Obama holds election night rally in Chicago

CHICAGO, Nov. 5 (UPI) -- Media titan Oprah Winfrey says she's thrilled Democrat Barack Obama has been voted the next President of the United States.

Obama, a candidate for whom Winfrey had tirelessly stumped during the campaign, beat Republican Sen. John McCain in Tuesday's election.

"It feels like hope won," Winfrey told the BBC from Chicago where People.com said she helped Obama celebrate his victory, along with Brad Pitt and the Rev. Jesse Jackson.

"It feels like there's a shift in consciousness. It feels like something really big and bold has happened here, like nothing ever in our lifetimes did we expect this to happen."
