NBC orders full season of 'Kath & Kim'

UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif., Nov. 3 (UPI) -- NBC says it has ordered an additional nine episodes of "Kath & Kim," giving the U.S. comedy series a full first season.

Co-starring Selma Blair and Molly Shannon, the show is an adaptation of the Australian hit sit-com about a quirky mother-and-daughter duo.

The full-season order announcement was made Monday by Ben Silverman, co-chairman of NBC Entertainment and Universal Media Studios.

"'Kath & Kim' is a show we love and believe in," Teri Weinberg, executive vice president of NBC Entertainment, said in a statement. "We have incredible confidence in the creative auspices of this show and we believe it's a perfect fit with our Thursday-night comedies."

Also airing on Thursday nights are "My Name is Earl," "The Office" and "30 Rock."
