Communists criticize Bond girl Kurylenko

ST. PETERSBURG, Russia, Nov. 1 (UPI) -- The Communist Party of St. Petersburg is criticizing Ukrainian actress Olga Kurylenko for her portrayal of a Russian-Bolivian agent in "Quantum of Solace."

"Solace" is the latest installment of the film franchise featuring the character of British secret agent James Bond.

The communist group has slammed Kurylenko because her character helps "a man who worked for decades under the orders of (former British Prime Minister Margaret) Thatcher and (late U.S. President Ronald) Reagan to destroy the U.S.S.R.," The Daily Telegraph reported.

"The Soviet Union educated you, cared for you and brought you up for free, but no one suspected that you would commit this act of intellectual and moral betrayal," the party said in a message on its Web site.

"Everyone knows that the CIA and M-I6 finance James Bond films as a special operation of psychological warfare against us. This Ukrainian girl sleeps with Bond and that means that Ukraine is sleeping with the West," the Telegraph quoted Sergei Malinkovich, the communist party's leader, as saying.
