LOS ANGELES, Nov. 1 (UPI) -- The team from the 2000 independent film "Boondock Saints" has reunited for a sequel, The Hollywood Reporter said.

Writer-director Troy Duffy has begun principal photography on the follow-up in Toronto.

Sean Patrick Flanery, Norman Reedus and Billy Connolly -- the stars of the first film -- have all returned for the sequel, which is again set in the Boston underworld.

"It's a joy and a long time coming to be bringing such an enormously talented group of people back together again," Duffy told The Hollywood Reporter.

"We expect this film to be a truly intense, humorous and satisfying film for all those who have looked forward to the sequel for so long," producer Chris Brinker said.
