CHICAGO, Oct. 31 (UPI) -- Actress Jennifer Hudson is still reeling from the recent deaths of three relatives and rarely leaves the Chicago hotel where she is staying, E! News said.
The Oscar-winning singer-actress' mother, brother and 7-year-old nephew were all shot to death in Chicago. The estranged husband of Hudson's sister Julia is considered a person of interest in the triple homicide, but has not been charged. A private memorial is planned for Hudson's family at a Chicago church Monday.
"She is still in shock," a source tells E! News of Jennifer Hudson. "She hasn't gone out much at all and has a lot of security around her."
Hudson, 27, who has a new album and movie out, had been doing publicity in Florida when she got the news. E! said she immediately flew to Chicago and has been staying in the city's Trump International Hotel & Tower.
Insiders told the entertainment news program that other than to identify the bodies of her loved ones at the medical examiner's office, Hudson has pretty much stayed in her hotel suite, depending on cousins to run errands, bring food and pick up personal items for her.
Her fiance, former reality television personality David Otunga, is said to have been with Hudson all week.
"David's been by her side through this whole tragedy," a family source told E! "He has totally been there for her."
