LONDON, Oct. 26 (UPI) -- British radio personalities Jonathan Ross and Russell Brand should be punished for a questionable phone prank, an official says.

Member of Parliament Philip Davies said both Ross and Brand should face "disciplinary proceedings" for calling "Fawlty Towers" actor Andrew Sachs to tell him Brand had sex with the actor's 23-year-old granddaughter, the Mail on Sunday reported.

"I know Jonathan Ross has been handsomely rewarded by the BBC for being rude, inappropriate and as vile as possible, but I would hope that even the BBC would accept he's overstepped the mark this time," Davies said regarding the on-air joke on Brand's Radio 2 program.

"In any other walk of life, anyone who did this type of thing would face serious disciplinary proceedings."

A spokesman for the BBC said the broadcaster had received two complaints regarding the Oct. 18 incident, which marked the most recent in a series of questionable on-air activities by the duo.

The Mail said a spokesman for Sachs, 78, confirmed the actor was disturbed by the answering machine prank, which began after Sachs failed to answer his telephone for a scheduled interview.
