LOS ANGELES, Oct. 24 (UPI) -- The big-screen adaptation of John Patrick Shanley's stage drama "Doubt" is to replace "The Soloist" as the AFI Fest's opening-night movie, organizers said.
"The Soloist" was scheduled to screen at the film festival next week, but was pulled after Paramount Pictures moved its theatrical release date from this fall to next year.
Variety.com said an unfinished version of "Doubt," written and directed by Shanley and starring Meryl Streep, Philip Seymour Hoffman and Amy Adams, has been chosen to take "The Soloist's" place at the film festival.
"The movie is still being finished, but we were so excited to show 'Doubt' and help our friends at AFI Fest and the American Film Institute at the same time. We couldn't possibly pass up the opportunity," Miramax President Daniel Battsek told the entertainment industry trade newspaper.
