CINCINNATI, Oct. 22 (UPI) -- Lil Wayne's publicist has confirmed the U.S. rapper has welcomed a new son.

Dwayne Carter III was born Wednesday afternoon at the Christ Hospital in Cincinnati, the hip-hop artist's representative told Usmagazine.com.

The identity of the child's mother has not been made public, the celebrity magazine said.

"I got a son about to be born any day now, so shout-out to him. Pray for me," Lil Wayne said as he collected his Lyricist of the Year prize at Sunday's BET Hip-Hop Awards.

Wikipedia said the recording artist, whose real name is Dwayne Carter Jr., also has a daughter.
