CHICAGO, Oct. 20 (UPI) -- "The Oprah Winfrey Show" is now available in Spanish in major U.S. Hispanic TV markets through Secondary Audio Programming, show representatives said.
The talk show was made available in Spanish through SAP and Spanish closed-captioning as of Monday.
The top six U.S. Hispanic TV markets -- Los Angeles, New York, Miami, Houston, Dallas and Chicago -- will be the first to offer the Spanish-language "Oprah" program. Additional U.S. cities are expected to get the Spanish-language edition of "Oprah" later in the 2008-09 television season.
"We are delighted to be providing the Spanish-language community with an opportunity to become part of the 'Oprah' show viewing family," Harpo Productions, Inc. President Tim Bennett said in a statement. "We'll be able to reach this audience more directly with programming that is relevant, informative and entertaining."
