KIEV, Ukraine, Oct. 20 (UPI) -- Norwegian Crown Princess Mette-Marit had to cut her official visit to Ukraine short after she tripped on stairs and hit her head, Aftenposten reported.

The 35-year-old Norwegian royal was in Kiev as part of her work helping people with HIV/AIDS.

As a special envoy for the United Nations, she was due to visit a center for HIV/AIDS patients Monday. She had to cancel, however, after she slipped and injured herself, sustaining a slight concussion, during a meeting with All-Ukrainian Network, an organization that assists people who live with HIV or AIDS.

Aftenposten said doctors put the princess on bed rest for two days, forcing her to scrap most of her trip, which was scheduled to run through Wednesday.

Mette-Marit previously canceled a visit to Germany, which was to be one of her first official international appearances, because she suffered a severe sunburn during a TV interview. She also dropped out of a scheduled trip to Chile earlier this year because she fell ill, the newspaper said.
