NEW YORK, Oct. 20 (UPI) -- U.S. actress Whoopi Goldberg has agreed to be a guest star on the new 1970s-set cop drama "Life on Mars," ABC said Monday.
Goldberg, who won an Oscar for her work in the movie "Ghost," is now the moderator on the TV talk show "The View."
She will play Disc Jockey Brother Lovebutter in the Nov. 6 episode of "Mars," now in its first season.
The network described the installment as being about how a "racial war is sparked when a young African-American girl is brutally murdered and Sam Tyler and the (cops of the 125th precinct) face off with the neighborhood and each other, as long-held racial attitudes stand in the way of justice."
The show stars Jason O'Mara as Detective Sam Tyler, Harvey Keitel as Lt. Gene Hunt, Michael Imperioli as Detective Ray Carling, Gretchen Mol as Annie Norris and Jonathan Murphy as Detective Chris Skelton. Lisa Bonet has a recurring role as Maya Daniels.
