TOKYO, Oct. 19 (UPI) -- Japanese Prime Minister Taro Aso said during an appearance at the Tokyo International Film Festival that he is only enhancing his geeky image.

Aso joined notable directors and actors Saturday at the first day of the Tokyo festival at Roppongi Hills, Kyodo News reported Sunday.

The nine-day event features screenings of 315 movies from around the world based on a theme of "Ecology = Preservation of Earth's Environment," organizers said.

The Kyodo News said the 21st incarnation of the event also includes the presentation of the Tokyo Grand Grand Prix award whose winner will be chosen by U.S. actor Jon Voight and other judges.
