LONDON, Oct. 19 (UPI) -- The biological father of pop star Madonna's adopted Malawian son says the "Music" star should not divorce her husband, British director Guy Ritchie.

Yohane Banda said if he had known Madonna had plans to divorce Ritchie, he never would have agreed to let the celebrity couple adopt his 3-year-old son, David, The Sunday Times of London reported.

The 33-year-old peasant farmer called on the two celebrities to resolve their marital problems and not force his child to be raised by a single mother.

"When a mother and father divorce, or the mother or father marries another person, I know that it becomes very difficult for the children to adjust," the Malawian native said.

Banda also accused Madonna of reneging on a promise to allow him to remain in contact with his son after his adoption.

"I am completely ignorant about what is going on. I don't even have photos to show off my son," he told The Times.
