CHICAGO, Oct. 18 (UPI) -- Questionable lyrics in a background song has led Sony to delay the release of its new PlayStation 3 video game "LittleBigPlanet," a spokesman said.
Patrick Seybold, director of communications for Sony Computer Entertainment of America, said release of the children's video game was delayed until Oct. 28 to allow the company to remove a background song, the Chicago Sun-Times reported Saturday.
The song at the center of the gaming recall was "Tapha Niang" from world music artist Toumani Diabate. The background offering in the game includes lyrics in Arabic that loosely translate to "Every soul shall taste of death" and "All that is on Earth shall perish."
The Sun-Times said while the song was added to convey the non-permanence of man-made things, Seybold offered an apology for its presence in the highly anticipated children's game.
"We sincerely apologize for any offense that this may have caused," he said in an online blog.
