Tina Fey, er Sarah Palin, to be on 'SNL'

NEW YORK, Oct. 17 (UPI) -- Comedian Tina Fey may be able to study her latest subject more closely when Sarah Palin drops by "Saturday Night Live" this week, several media reports say.

CNN's Larry King broke the news Thursday that the Republican vice presidential nominee will be on NBC's long-running late-night staple Saturday, "Access Hollywood" reported.

SNL's "Weekend Update" anchor Seth Meyers said he'd love to have the politician on the show.

"The door is open if she would like to come and make an appearance," Meyers said of Palin in an interview with "Access Hollywood." "We heard from her people that she really liked the first time that Tina played her. We haven't heard from her since then."

SNL alum Fey has spoofed the Alaska governor in three of the show's recent opening segments and Palin has commented on the parodies while on the stump.

It was unknown whether Fey also will appear on Saturday's program, CNN reported.

Paramount delays 'Soloist,' 'Defiance'

LOS ANGELES, Oct. 17 (UPI) -- Hollywood's Paramount Pictures has delayed the theatrical release dates of two high-profile films -- "The Soloist" and "Defiance."

The Los Angeles Times said the release date of "The Soloist," starring Jamie Foxx as a homeless violin player and Robert Downey Jr. as a journalist who discovers and writes about him, has been pushed back from Thanksgiving week to March 13, eliminating it from the 2008 awards season competition.

The release date for the World War II movie "Defiance" starring Daniel Craig has also been changed from mid-December to a limited Dec. 31 release, followed by a wide expansion Jan. 16, the Times noted.

To qualify for consideration in the next Oscar race a movie must open by or on Dec. 31.

The Times said the studio declined to comment on the scheduling changes, but the newspaper quoted unnamed studio executives as saying the current economic climate and competitive fall-winter release field could be behind the switches.

Paramount said this week it will only release a maximum of 20 movies a year in the future.

'Little House' museum sued over trademark

CHICAGO, Oct. 17 (UPI) -- The non-profit that operates the "Little House on the Prairie" museum in Kansas said it is being sued by the makers of the former TV show with the same name.

The museum is located on the homestead where researchers said Laura Ingalls Wilder, the author of the "Little House" series of books, lived as a young child with her family between 1869 and 1871.

The homestead is now owned by Chicago journalist Bill Kurtis and his sister, Jean Schodorf.

The Chicago Tribune said Family Friendly Productions, the makers of the long-running TV drama starring Melissa Gilbert and the late Michael Landon, filed a lawsuit last week in Los Angeles federal court, claiming Little House on the Prairie Inc., the non-profit that operates the museum, as well as a "Little House" gift shop and Web site, infringed on its trademark.

"We've got two trademarks, and we're very secure in it, so we're going to fight them," Kurtis, whose sister is president of the non-profit group, told the Tribune. "We'll move for dismissal immediately."

However, the production company insists in its lawsuit that it acquired decades ago the rights from the author's heirs to "Little House on the Prairie" for TV, movies, theme parks and merchandise.

The company is demanding the museum stop using the trademark and turn over money it made using the name, the Tribune said.

U.K. princes party with Hilton, Aguilera

LONDON, Oct. 17 (UPI) -- British Princes William and Harry partied with U.S. celebrity-heiress Paris Hilton and singer Christina Aguilera at a London nightclub this week.

The Daily Telegraph said the royals chatted up the reality television personality and singer at Whisky Mist, a Mayfair nightclub.

Prince Harry's girlfriend Chelsy Davy, the royals' cousins Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie, and Aguilera's husband Jordan Bratman were also present at the club. Kate Middleton, Prince William's long-term girlfriend, was not, however, the Telegraph said.

To get to Aguilera, the elder prince first had to convince her bodyguard he was who he claimed he was. He is said to have introduced himself by saying: "Er, hi. I'm Prince William, I just wanted to say, 'Hello,'" the Telegraph said.

A witness told the newspaper the pair sat close together and swapped phone numbers.

Hilton was later escorted to the princes' table by a friend.

"Don't you love the princes? They are so hot. I just had to say, 'Hi,'" Hilton told the Daily Mirror.

The Telegraph said Prince William stayed by Hilton's side for most of the night and also was seen exchanging numbers with her.
