LOS ANGELES, Oct. 16 (UPI) -- CBS says it has ordered a full season of its new U.S. drama series "The Mentalist."

Starring Simon Baker, the show is about an independent consultant with the California Bureau of Investigation, who has a remarkable track record for solving serious crimes by using his razor-sharp skills of observation.

Robin Tunney, Tim Kang, Owain Yeoman and Amanda Righetti co-star in the series, which CBS has described as the season's No. 1 new show in viewers and adults ages 25-54.

"The Mentalist" is averaging 16.14 million viewers, making it No. 7 among all prime-time programs, CBS said.
