LOS ANGELES, Oct. 14 (UPI) -- U.S. actress Jennie Garth said she is delighted Jason Priestley has agreed to direct an episode of "90210."

Garth and Priestley played boyfriend and girlfriend Kelly and Brandon on "Beverly Hills, 90210," the 1990s teen soap of which "90210" is a spinoff. Garth is reprising her role on the new edition of the series.

"I'm happy that he's there. Jason directed a couple of episodes of the original show and he was great," Garth told Usmagazine.com. "He's a hoot, so it'll be fun!"

Asked if she thinks Luke Perry, the actor who played Kelly's other love interest on the original show, will make an appearance on "90210," Garth told the celebrity magazine: "Well, I just talked to him on the phone on my way here and he didn't mention coming back at all. I don't know if that's going to happen but I would love it."

Also still unclear is whether Garth will return for the show's second season.

"I'm just trying to get through episode 10," she said. "If the story writing is good, if people like it and people want it, then that's what I'll do. If everyone's like, 'Get her out of there, kick her out!' I'm not going to hang out!"
