LONDON, Oct. 13 (UPI) -- British rock 'n' roll icon Ringo Starr said on his Web site he wants people to stop sending him fan mail and asking for his autograph.
The 68-year-old musician and singer-songwriter is best known for his days as the drummer for The Beatles, but he has also enjoyed a successful solo career as a recording artist and performer since the band broke up in 1970.
"This is a serious message to everybody watching my update. Peace and love. Peace and love," the Daily Telegraph quoted Starr as saying in a video posting on his Web site. "I want to tell you after the 20th of October please do not send fan mail to any address you have. Nothing will be signed after the 20th of October. If that is the date on the envelope, it's going to be tossed. I'm warning you, with peace and love, I have too much to do. So no more fan mail. Thank you, thank you. And no objects to be signed. Nothing. Anyway, peace and love, peace and love."
The newspaper noted Starr previously upset fans in Liverpool this year when he said there was nothing he missed about his hometown. A topiary sculpture of the musician located in the city was decapitated shortly after he made the remarks and radio stations were flooded with calls from irate fans.
