'Paper Planes' singer M.I.A. pregnant

LOS ANGELES, Oct. 13 (UPI) -- British recording artist M.I.A., best known for her hit song "Paper Planes," has confirmed she is pregnant with her first child.

"I'm creating a baby," People magazine quoted the 31-year-old performer as telling Pitchfork Media. "When I found out I was pregnant and 'Paper Planes' was in the iTunes top 10, it seemed like the whole world was reshuffled in one week, and all my plans went out the window. I've got two kids, that's what it feels like. And that's the lesson -- you can't make plans."

M.I.A. is engaged to Ben Brewer, the lead singer and guitarist of The Exit.

People magazine said the couple has not disclosed the baby's due date or gender.
