Holocaust musical headed to West End

LONDON, Oct. 10 (UPI) -- The director of a Holocaust-themed musical said he hopes audiences will find his West End show, "Imagine This," uplifting rather than depressing.

Tim Sheader's musical about a group of amateur actors who perform in the Warsaw ghetto in an effort to boost morale is slated to open at the New London Theatre Nov. 19. Previews are to begin Nov. 4.

"It's about humanity -- human beings on a precipice facing impossible decisions," Sheader told the Daily Telegraph. "Hopefully people will cry at the end of it -- people should be inspired by it. If people have gone to see 'Les Miserables' they should go and see this."

Peter Polycarpou, an original cast member of "Les Miserables" who also has played the title role in "The Phantom of the Opera," plays the lead in "Imagine This," the newspaper said.
