LOS ANGELES, Oct. 7 (UPI) -- The U.S. television comedy "My Boys" has been renewed for a third season, TBS announced Tuesday.

Jordana Spiro is set to return in her starring role as P.J. Franklin, a sportswriter looking for love in Chicago.

Co-stars Jim Gaffigan, Kyle Howard, Reid Scott, Michael Bunin, Jamie Kaler and Kellee Stewart are also slated to reprise their roles in the third season of the sit-com. Creator Betsy Thomas, Jamie Tarses and Gavin Polone serve as executive producers

TBS has ordered nine episodes of the series, which is scheduled to return in the first quarter of 2009.

"This past summer, 'My Boys' continued to catch on with audiences and critics," Michael Wright, senior vice president in charge of the Content Creation Group for TBS, TNT and TCM, said in a statement. "It's that truly rare television combination of a talented cast with great chemistry, extremely smart and funny writing and outstanding production. 'My Boys' is a quality show with a quality audience that continues to make the case that Turner is a true broadcast substitute."

"Thanks to tremendous support from TBS, audiences have discovered and embraced 'My Boys,' and we can't wait to show fans what Betsy and Jamie have in store for the third season," added Jeannie Bradley, executive vice president of programming for Sony Pictures Television.
