NEW YORK, Oct. 6 (UPI) -- U.S. actor Kevin Costner and director Ron Shelton have talked about making a sequel to their hit 1988 movie "Bull Durham," a source told the New York Post.

The insider said Costner plans to reprise his role of Crash Davis in the follow-up to the romantic comedy about a minor league baseball player.

Real-life couple and "Durham" co-stars Tim Robbins and Susan Sarandon, who played a pitcher and a baseball groupie respectively in the first installment, are also expected to return for the second film. This time around, they will play the married owners of a Major League Baseball team Costner's character manages, the Post said.

Costner has had success with several baseball-themed movies. In addition to "Durham," he has also starred in "Field of Dreams," "The Upside of Anger" and "For Love of the Game."
