TOKYO, Oct. 6 (UPI) -- The Tokyo Broadcasting System said Monday it is suspending its television drama "Kippari!" following the weekend drug arrest of its star Taishu Kase.

Japan Today said the 38-year-old actor, whose real name is Nobuhiro Kawamoto, was arrested Saturday for illegal use and possession of amphetamines and cannabis at his

Tokyo apartment.

Police said they were acting on a tip and, upon visiting Kase's home, allegedly found several cannabis plants in the actor's closet and amphetamines on a table, as well as syringes and other drug paraphernalia, the newspaper reported.

Kase allegedly told police the drugs were for personal use, officials said.

Although "Kippari!" has 20 episodes left in its run, the remaining installments won't be broadcast, TBS told Japan Today.
