Lawsuit filed in Rockett rape case

JACKSON, Miss., Oct. 5 (UPI) -- A woman suing a Choctaw Indian casino claims she was raped at the Mississippi gambling venue by a man wrongly identified initially as rocker Rikki Rockett.

While the drummer for the 1980s band Poison has been cleared in the alleged 2007 attack, a 35-year-old cocktail waitress, identified only as M.C., is suing the Pearl River Resort over the incident, The Miami Herald reported Sunday.

The woman has accused convicted kidnapper John Minskoff of drugging her and raping her while she was employed at the resort last year. Minskoff, who was convicted in 2001 of kidnapping, has denied the allegations.

The Sept. 24 civil-negligence suit accuses resort managers of ignoring the woman's repeated complaints about aggressive behavior on the part of Minskoff and then unfairly firing her after she reported the alleged rape.

Meanwhile, Rockett is merely happy to have been cleared on all related charges by a judge in Neshoba County, Miss., after being incorrectly identified from surveillance tapes.

"It's not a place I would ever pick to go,'' Rockett, whose real name is Richard Ream, said after being released from jail following his exoneration.
