DETROIT, Oct. 1 (UPI) -- Hip-hop titan Jay-Z has agreed to perform a free concert in Detroit to promote voter registration.

The Detroit Free Press reported Sen. Barack Obama, the Democratic presidential nominee, is scheduled to bring the Grammy Award-winning rapper and music producer to Cobo Hall Saturday night to encourage young residents to register to vote.

Michigan residents 18 and older can get tickets to the event at Campaign for Change offices throughout the region this week, the newspaper said.
