LOS ANGELES, Sept. 26 (UPI) -- Terrence Howard's publicist said the Hollywood actor's mother has died of cancer.

Howard, 39, is best known for his roles in "Iron Man," "August Rush," "The Brave One," "Hustle & Flow" and "Crash."

"Terrence Howard's mother, Anita Williams, has sadly passed away after a long battle with cancer," the actor's representative said in a statement issued to People magazine. "Terrence will take some time to privately grieve with his family. He appreciates everyone's support during this difficult time."
