NEW YORK, Sept. 23 (UPI) -- U.S. hip-hop icon L.L. Cool J has signed on to be a guest judge on the fashion reality competition series "Project Runway," Bravo announced.

He is to appear on the show scheduled to air Wednesday.

"The five remaining designers tune in to their musical side on this week's episode," the network said in a news release. "Challenged to create a look based on a musical genre, the contestants work less than harmoniously together and find themselves only two challenges away from showing at Fashion Week. Further complicating matters, the designers learn that they must design for their fellow contestants. Guest judge L.L. Cool J brings his musical expertise and fashion flair to the judge's corner."
