Jackson Browne's album first in six years

LOS ANGELES, Sept. 23 (UPI) -- U.S. singer-songwriter Jackson Browne says that the six-year break between new albums was something of a surprise to him, too.

"This is an album I started making in the middle of those six years," says Browne, who has just released "Time The Conqueror" on his own Inside Recordings label. "I was shocked when I was looking for the original version of a song I was working on and said 'Let's go back and hear how we did it originally,' and it was on a disc that said 2005.

"And I went, 'Ooooh ... it has been a long time, hasn't it?"

"Time the Conqueror" is Browne's first set of all-new material since 2002's "The Naked Ride Home." During the interim he continued to tour, released a pair of "Acoustic Live" albums and a collaboration with Fred Martin & the Levite Camp on 2006's "Some Bridges."

Browne is on tour to promote "Time The Conqueror." He's also suing the Republican National Committee and presidential candidate Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., for alleged unauthorized use of his hit "Running On Empty" in campaign ads.
