NEW YORK, Sept. 22 (UPI) -- The U.S. situation comedy "30 Rock" Sunday night tied the single-season Emmy record for a comedy series set by "All in the Family" in 1972.
Both shows won seven Emmys in a single season, NBC said.
"On behalf of everyone at NBC Entertainment and Universal Media Studios, we would like to congratulate all our Emmy winners, and especially Tina Fey, who picked up three Emmys for her outstanding work on '30 Rock' as a writer, performer and producer," Ben Silverman, co-chairman of NBC Entertainment and Universal Media Studios, said in a statement. "It's a huge testament to an enormously talented cast and crew who racked up a record 17 Emmy nominations."
"I am particularly pleased for all the hard-working men and women who have made '30 Rock' the outstanding comedy series for the second year in a row," added Marc Graboff, co-chairman of NBC Entertainment and Universal Media Studios. "We are thrilled about '30 Rock's' well-deserved seven Emmys."
"30 Rock" leading man Alec Baldwin also won his first Emmy for outstanding lead actor in a comedy series Sunday night, while the show picked up the remainder of its prizes at last week's Creative Arts Emmy Awards presentation.
