Art dealer sues 'Savage Grace' filmmakers

NEW YORK, Sept. 17 (UPI) -- A U.S. art dealer is suing the makers of "Savage Grace," claiming the film's portrayal of him has exposed him to "disgrace" and "ridicule."

The New York Post said Sam Green is seeking unspecified damages from Rainbow Media Holdings, the film's producers, based on his assertions the movie exposed him "to disgrace, hatred, ridicule and contempt," "deprived him of friendly intercourse in society" and is making it difficult for him to raise money for his charitable organization, the Landmarks Foundation.

A character based on Green is shown in the movie having sex with both his ex-girlfriend Barbara Baekeland and her son Tony, a schizophrenic who eventually stabbed her to death in 1972. Co-starring Julianne Moore as Baekeland and Hugh Dancy as Green, the film was released in theaters this year.

While Green, 77, admitted in the lawsuit he had "a brief romantic relationship with Barbara Baekeland in the late 1960s," he insisted it ended "long before the tragic events that led to Mrs. Baekeland's death," the Post said.

"At no time during the duration of said romantic relationship, or any other time, did Sam Green engage in menage a trois or have sexual intercourse with both Tony Baekeland and Barbara Baekeland at the same time," the lawsuit said.

Green also said in the lawsuit he objected to the suggestion he had been someone who preyed on wealthy older women, the Post reported.

Carla Bruni, Metallica perform on 'Jools'

LONDON, Sept. 17 (UPI) -- French First Lady Carla Bruni-Sarkozy sang on an episode of the British music show "Later with Jools Holland," which also featured an appearance by Metallica.

Bruni-Sarkozy, 40, was a model and recording artist before she married French President Nicolas Sarkozy last February. She released her third album "Comme Si De Rien N'Etait" this past summer.

The BBC quoted Bruni-Sarkozy as telling interviewer Holland her head-of-state husband is "very kind" when it comes to her music.

"I play it at home and I disturb him with it in the middle of the night," Bruni-Sarkozy said.

Holland asked the first lady what it was like juggling her roles as singer-songwriter and president's wife. Bruni-Sarkozy recently met Pope Benedict XVI, Queen Elizabeth II and the Dalai Lama while traveling with her husband.

"I don't really mix them up -- I separate (the roles,)" Bruni-Sarkozy said. "I play my music and then I go with my husband when he needs me."

Bruni-Sarkozy was seen on the live television program Tuesday tapping her foot and clapping as the heavy metal band Metallica played songs from its 12th album "Death Magnetic."

An extended version of the episode was also taped and is expected to air on BBC Two Friday.

Free movies now available on IMDb

LOS ANGELES, Sept. 17 (UPI) -- More than 6,000 movies and TV shows can now be watched for free on the Internet Movie Database Web site, InformationWeek reported Tuesday.

Content provided by CBS, Hulu.com, Sony Pictures Television and hundreds of independent filmmakers now comprise the catalog of the popular movie information site, which is a subsidiary of Amazon.com.

"We're excited to offer our users a simple online experience to watch full-length movies and TV episodes for free," Col Needham, founder and managing director of IMDb.com, said in a statement. "Our goal is to show our users every movie and TV show on the Internet for free on IMDb.com."

"On title pages where IMDb does not have the content available for free, users can click on the Amazon Video On Demand button to rent or purchase the video from Amazon," an Amazon representative told InformationWeek via e-mail. "It's great to offer customers choice. They can decide whether to watch an ad-supported movie or show on IMDb for free or rent or purchase a movie and show immediately from AVOD without commercials. So it's really the best of both worlds for TV and movie fans."

'Daisies' wins Tubey for best new series

NEW YORK, Sept. 17 (UPI) -- Television fans voted the U.S. drama-comedy series "Pushing Daisies" the best new show via TelevisionWithoutPity.com's Tubey Awards, Bravo announced.

"TV junkies" were invited to vote for the best and worst of the 2007-08 television season through the network's Web site, Bravo said.

"Lost" was named best returning show, "Battlestar Galactica" best drama, "30 Rock" best comedy, Neil Patrick Harris from "How I Met Your Mother" favorite actor and Tina Fey from "30 Rock" favorite actress.

"America's Next Top Model" won the prize for guiltiest pleasure, "Dollhouse" was declared the most anticipated new show of the 2008-09 season and "Living Lohan" was voted worst new show.

Fans also chose David Caruso from "CSI: Miami" as their least favorite actor and Katherine Heigl from "Grey's Anatomy" as their least favorite actress.

"The Moment of Truth" earned the dubious distinction of being the most egregiously offensive reality show, while Tila Tequila from "A Shot at Love with Tila Tequila" was named the most appalling reality TV star, Bravo said.
