Pickler to help out ABC on New Year's Eve

NEW YORK, Sept. 17 (UPI) -- Kellie Pickler has agreed to be a New York Times Square correspondent for "Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve with Ryan Seacrest 2009," ABC said Wednesday.

The country music star was a contestant on "American Idol," the singing competition television series of which Seacrest is host.

Pickler is to assume her ABC correspondent duties Dec. 31.

The 3 1/2 hours of New Year's programming is to begin at 10 p.m. E.T., the network said.
