LONDON, Sept. 15 (UPI) -- Troubled British soul singer Amy Winehouse reportedly was a no-show at her 25th birthday bash at London's Jazz After Dark club during the weekend.

The Daily Telegraph said the recording artist, who has long battled an addiction to drugs, told friends she didn't want to attend the party because of the way she looks.

The newspaper quoted Winehouse as saying, "I look (expletive) ugly," when her friends and mother tried to persuade her to leave her home and let them help her celebrate the milestone.

"Amy was standing in front of the mirror telling everyone how rough she looked," a friend told the Sun newspaper. "Unfortunately her lifestyle has had a major affect on her appearance and it's only just started to sink in. She kept saying she was ugly and was in an awful state. They couldn't get her out. Remi (Nicole) had organized the night and made a huge effort. They had a huge row. Amy can be very selfish -- there was no convincing her and she ruined the night for everyone, including herself."

The Telegraph said about 15 guests were left at the club to eat Winehouse's guitar-shaped cake without her.
