LOS ANGELES, Sept. 14 (UPI) -- British actor Hugh Laurie is poised to become one of the highest-paid actors in U.S. television thanks to his work on "House," The Hollywood Reporter says.

While Laurie started with a five-figure salary per episode, the Fox drama's popularity earned him a boost to $250,000-$300,000 per show in 2006 and he could soon find himself making nearly $400,000 an episode, the entertainment publication reported Friday.

It would mean the 49-year-old actor could soon be making more than $9 million a year for portraying Dr. Gregory House on "House."

The show, produced by Universal Media Studios, is heading into its fifth season.
