Guinness: Spears most searched on Internet

LONDON, Sept. 14 (UPI) -- U.S. pop singer Britney Spears has officially become the Most Searched Person on the Internet, Guinness World Records says.

Spears retook the top position she held in 2007 after giving way to celebrity heiress Paris Hilton in the 2008 Guinness edition, the record-keeping group said in a news release Sunday.

Guinness officials determined the 2009 category winner based on search entries in the Internet search engine Google.

The recognition comes as Spears is attempting a comeback from a series of personal issues, including a divorce, custody battle and several highly publicized apparent emotional meltdowns.

Another troubled singer honored by Guinness in its 2009 edition is Amy Winehouse, whose five 2008 Grammy Award wins earned her the rank of Most Grammy Awards Won by a British Female Act.

Winehouse has sought rehabilitation services during the last year in addition to medical services for illnesses.
