2004 TONY AWARD CEREMONIES

NEW YORK, Sept. 12 (UPI) -- "The 63rd annual Tony Awards" are to be broadcast in a three-hour ceremony live from New York's Radio City Music Hall next June, CBS announced this week.

The awards honor theater professionals for distinguished achievement on Broadway. The ceremonies are presented by Tony Award Productions -- a joint venture of the League of American Theatres and Producers, and the American Theatre Wing, which founded the Tonys in 1947.

The June 7, 2009, event marks the 12th time Radio City Music Hall will have been home to the presentations.

The first Tony Awards ceremony took place April 6, 1947, at the Waldorf Astoria's Grand Ballroom.
