DALLAS, Sept. 10 (UPI) -- The couch on which Hollywood film star Glenn Ford said he had sex with Marilyn Monroe is to go up for sale next month, Heritage Auction Galleries said. The sofa is among the dozens of personal items, costumes and documents from the late Ford's estate that are to be offered in a public auction in Dallas and online by Heritage Auction Galleries from Oct. 4-6.

The storied 8-foot long, tartan-design couch comes with Ford's account of his night with Monroe, which he wrote on the back of what he described as Monroe's favorite painting -- an oil of a little girl that hung near the couch.
"When we made love she whispered, 'I wish I could die right now, while I'm happy,'" he wrote in the note.
Heritage Auction Galleries said this is the first time an affair between Ford and Monroe has been revealed and confirmed by his son, Peter Ford, who consigned the items to the auction.
The writing on the back of the painting was discovered after the actor's death two years ago.
The auction also features hundreds of publicity photographs, movie stills and documents from the estate of late actor, Boris Karloff, including items related to his classic 1931 film, "Frankenstein."
