LONDON, Ontario, Sept. 9 (UPI) -- A Canadian concert by British rockers Oasis was postponed following the injury of lead guitarist Noel Gallagher by a stage intruder, the group said Tuesday.

The London, Ontario, concert scheduled for Tuesday will now take place Dec. 15, a statement posted on the Oasis Web site said.

Gallagher injured his ribs and hip and was unable to perform after being bowled over by a stage intruder during a Virgin Mobile Festival concert in Toronto Sunday, the site said.

"Noel fell heavily onto his monitor speakers when he was pushed suddenly from behind by his attacker and suffered bruising to his ribs and hip," the site said.

"He was examined in a local hospital after the band's performance and has been advised to rest," the site said.

Concertgoer Ryan Markle told The Toronto Star, "The audience seemed shocked at first -- the fan came out of nowhere."

"There was a lot of gasping and yelling," Markle said.

Alleged intruder Daniel Sullivan, 47, of Pickering, Ontario, was arrested, jailed and ordered by a judge to stay away from Oasis. He is to appear in court again Oct. 24.

Festival official Nathan Rosenberg told the Star organizers and police were trying to determine how Sullivan got access. He allegedly had a backstage pass.

Virgin is conducting an internal investigation to learn how Sullivan penetrated "really tight security," Rosenberg said.
