NEW YORK, Sept. 9 (UPI) -- Comic actor Jerry O'Connell publicly apologized for calling his pregnant wife Rebecca Romijn "huge" on U.S. television.

"I regret calling my wife 'huge' on ('Late Night with) Conan O'Brien,'" O'Connell told People magazine. "I meant to say that there are specific areas of my wife that are larger than normal and growing every day. All other portions of my wife are quite petite. I apologize to her and will be coming home with flowers."

Romijn, a former model who also acted in the "X-Men" movies, is expected to give birth to twin girls this winter.

O'Connell, a former child actor who co-starred in the film "Stand By Me," has also acted in the movies "Joe's Apartment" and "Jerry Maguire." He will be seen this fall in the sit-com "Do Not Disturb."
