PAYSON, Utah, Sept. 7 (UPI) -- Gary Coleman, former child star of the U.S. TV series "Diff'rent Strokes," was involved in an accident in which his pickup truck hit a pedestrian, police say.
Coleman's bodyguard says the pedestrian was an aggressive fan, Colt Rushton, 24, who wouldn't take no for an answer when he asked Coleman, 40, and wife, Shannon Price-Coleman, 22, if he could take their photo while they were bowling around midnight in a Payson, Utah, bowling alley near Provo.
Witnesses said Coleman became irritated after Rushton photographed them with his cell phone anyway, The Salt Lake Tribune reported. The two argued in the bowling alley and then moved outside, Payson police Lt. Bill Wright said.
Rushton followed the couple out into the parking lot, where he was hit by the actor's pickup when Rushton ran around the truck as Coleman was backing out, Coleman's bodyguard told E! Entertainment Television.
Coleman also hit another car, police said.
Rushton, who was treated for minor injuries, says he was just trying to get his cell phone back from Price-Coleman, who had snatched it away, when Coleman put his truck in gear and and knocked him to the ground, E! reported.
He said Coleman threw several punches at him before getting behind the wheel.
Police issue no citations, but were investigating the incident and say alcohol may have been a factor.
