LONDON, Sept. 6 (UPI) -- British actor Michael Caine is to star in "Harry Brown," an upcoming vigilante movie from Lionsgate U.K. and MARV Films, a studio official says.
MARV producer Kris Thykier said he is producing the thriller with "The Descent" producer Keith Bell and it will feature Caine as a vigilante in an "urban western" setting, The Hollywood Reporter said Friday.
"It's a modern urban western that reflects the stark realities of youth crime in the 21st century both in the U.K. and internationally," Thykier said.
The movie, which is to begin filming in Britain in November, will focus on Caine's character, who dispenses vigilante justice in a crime-infested neighborhood after his best friend is killed.
The Reporter said it will be directed by Daniel Barber, who earned a live-action short Oscar nomination for 2007's "The Tonto Woman."
