NEW YORK, Sept. 5 (UPI) -- A New York man has been sentenced to more than four years in prison after he pleaded guilty in connection with a theft in actress Kirsten Dunst's hotel room.
Dunst is best known for her roles in the "Spider-Man" trilogy, as well as in the films "Interview with the Vampire," "Wag the Dog," "The Virgin Suicides," "Elizabethtown," "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind" and "Marie Antoinette."
Police said thieves took money, cameras, an iPod, wallets and a handbag worth more than $10,000 from Dunst's penthouse suite at Manhattan's SoHo Grand Hotel in August 2007.
Jarrod Beinerman, 33, was arrested on burglary and larceny charges, but was allowed to plead guilty to the lesser charge of attempted burglary Thursday, the New York Daily News reported.
Beinerman was sentenced to 4 1/2 years in prison for the crime.
Michael Moore to put new film on Internet
LONDON, Sept. 5 (UPI) -- U.S. filmmaker Michael Moore says he plans make his new documentary "Slacker Uprising" available as a free download on the Internet this month.
Moore is best known for his films "Sicko," "Fahrenheit 9/11," "Bowling for Columbine" and "Roger and Me."
His latest documentary follows his trek across the United States, during which he encouraged young people to vote in the 2004 presidential election.
The BBC said he is offering the film for free to North Americans for three weeks, starting Sept. 23, as a means of celebrating his 20 years in the film industry and reminding people to vote in the November 2008 presidential election.
"This is being done entirely as a gift to my fans," the BBC quoted Moore as saying.
Slash composing score for Rubio film
MEXICO CITY, Sept. 5 (UPI) -- Famed rock guitarist Slash is composing the score for a Mexican movie written and directed by Olallo Rubio, Kung Fu Films announced Thursday.
Slash, best known for playing with Guns N' Roses and Velvet Revolver, is working on the score for "This is Not a Movie," an English-language film that takes place in Las Vegas. It was 100 percent independently financed with Mexican funds, Kung Fu said.
After filming several scenes in Mexico City's Estudios Churubusco, Rubio moved the production to Las Vegas.
"It's very cutting-edge, very artistic, and a little bit trippy," Slash told Mojo magazine about the film. "It's dark and jagged and a bit surreal, in and out of reality, you know?"
"The idea was to create a very eclectic psychedelic score with sounds generated by acoustic and electric guitars," Rubio said. "I was looking for a guitarist with the ability to create very emotional music, but at the same time, the freedom to use any type of effects to explore different sounds. Slash was interested in the project, and, so far, he has composed the music for six segments; we're very excited with his work."
The project is Rubio's second feature-length film, following the documentary, "So, what's your price?"
Bilson says she's happy dating Christensen
NEW YORK, Sept. 5 (UPI) -- Hollywood actress Rachel Bilson says she is happily dating her "Jumper" co-star Hayden Christensen.
Bilson starred in the former hit TV series "The O.C." and in the film "The Last Kiss."
Christensen is best known for his portrayal of the young adult version of Anakin Skywalker in the "Star Wars" prequels and for his role in the big-screen drama "Shattered Glass."
The couple will soon be seen in the multi-story movie "New York, I Love You."
"I'm happy and that's all that matters," Bilson told Page Six Magazine. "I have someone really great. Someone who can make me laugh -- that's always what comes first. It's the best to be able to really, like, truly laugh with someone like they're your best friend, you know?"
Asked about her opinion on dating guys she works with, the actress -- who also went out with her "O.C." co-star Adam Brody -- replied: "They say don't date your co-star, but that's who you're around. If you're in an office, and you see someone every day and you click well, you'll start dating. It's the same thing."
