LONDON, Sept. 1 (UPI) -- A man was arrested in England after allegedly attempting to sell The Sun illegally obtained pictures of Prince William on vacation, the newspaper said.
The Sun said the suspect and a yet-to-be-apprehended accomplice showed its reporter dozens of digital images, featuring the 26-year-old royal on holiday with his girlfriend Kate Middleton and her family on the Caribbean island of Mustique.
The pictures are suspected to have been stolen from a camera belonging to Middleton's sister.
The newspaper said it offered the suspects $100,000 for the photos and alerted authorities. The Sun also said it notified the prince's people at Clarence House about the incident.
The newspaper described the photos, which show the heir to the British throne and his girlfriend wearing beach attire while being playful and affectionate, as "some of the most personal and intimate pictures ever taken of the couple."
A 25-year-old man was arrested in the alleged plot to sell the illegally obtained photos and charged with suspicion of theft and attempted money laundering. He was later freed on bail, The Sun said.
