LOS ANGELES, Aug. 31 (UPI) -- Hip-hop's The Game says the rap industry in the United States has "taken its toll" on his life.
The Game, whose real name is Jayceon Taylor, said while his third album, "LAX," is finally in U.S. stores, his take on the rap industry has soured since he burst onto the scene alongside gangster rapper 50 Cent, the New York Post reported Sunday.
"I'm tired of dealing with negative things," Taylor said. "This business has taken its toll on me."
Born and raised in Compton, Calif., Taylor first gained notoriety with his 2005 album "The Documentary," made under the tutelage of industry mainstay Dr. Dre.
Yet Taylor says he decided to part ways with the rap mogul to create his next two albums independently.
"I had to get away from people asking me questions about Dre," the "Doctor's Advocate" rapper told the Post. "I still love Dre, but I had to keep myself separated."
With his third album behind him, Taylor has hinted at a possible retirement in the near future.
"I can feel it in my heart ... it's time for a long break," he told the newspaper.
