LAS VEGAS, Aug. 27 (UPI) -- Hip-hop producer Suge Knight has been arrested in Las Vegas for assault with a deadly weapon and domestic violence, police told TMZ.

Knight was also charged with possession of controlled substances after he allegedly attacked his long-term girlfriend Wednesday morning, the entertainment news Web site reported.

The alleged victim said Knight hit her in the back of the head while they were driving.

She claimed that she seized the vehicle's steering wheel in an attempt to cause an accident, so she could draw attention to her plight and get help. She said she jumped out of the car when it struck a curb and came to a stop.

The alleged victim reportedly ran from the car as Knight pursued her on foot.

Police told TMZ they saw Knight kicking the woman in the head and brandishing a knife when they arrived on the scene.
