NEW YORK, Aug. 27 (UPI) -- Britney Spears' manager said the U.S. pop singer plans to attend but not perform at the upcoming 2008 edition of the MTV Video Music Awards.
Spears made headlines and became the butt of countless jokes when she gave a lackluster performance while lip-synching her song "Gimme More" at last year's VMA event.
The New York Daily News said the singer's manager, Larry Rudolph, is denying reports claiming Spears plans to make up for her previous act by knocking them dead at the Sept. 7 VMA show.
"She did the promo for them but there never were any plans for her to appear on the show," Rudolph's spokesman told the Daily News, adding it was "wishful thinking" when Spears' hair colorist told E! News he might be working on a look for her next VMA routine.
Spears is nominated for three VMA awards this year.
