LAS VEGAS, Aug. 24 (UPI) -- Las Vegas is a city of near-perpetual change as owners of casinos and other businesses strive to keep tourists interested, experts say.

Popular culture expert Felicia Campbell said Las Vegas officials keep reworking the main strip and other segments of the gambling mecca to keep them on the "cutting edge" and keep drawing tourists to Nevada, the Las Vegas Review-Journal reported Sunday.

"It seems to me this is what we are, a constant renewal," the University of Las Vegas professor said. "Anything to be cutting edge. Whether we can keep doing it remains to be seen. Ever since I've been here people have been saying it's overbuilt."

Deutsche Bank gaming analyst Bill Lemer said such constant growth and revitalization could prove beneficial to tourists as the competition may drive down prices.

"Some might say there are too many nightclubs or too many restaurants now," Lerner told the Review-Journal. "It won't impact visitation but things might become more affordable because of it. So from a consumer aspect it's probably OK."
