Indie casting guru Liberman joins CBS

LOS ANGELES, Aug. 18 (UPI) -- Longtime independent casting director Meg Liberman has joined CBS Paramount Network TV as senior vice president for casting, network officials say.

Liberman, whose resume includes two casting Emmys for the HBO miniseries “Band of Brothers” and “From Earth to the Moon,” will be responsible for casting all CBS studio shows, The Hollywood Reporter said Monday.

"Meg has incredible relationships with writers, directors, agents and fellow casting directors, and she has an encyclopedic knowledge of actors," Peter Golden, executive vice president of talent and casting for CBS, told reporters. "Sheila is highly respected, and we're looking forward to continuing our relationship with her."

Liberman is a second-generation casting director. Her mother, Pat Harris, cast such 1960s TV series as "Get Smart.” Her former partner, Marc Hirschfeld, is now executive vice president for casting at rival NBC, the Reporter said.
