Family-friendly network due from Master P

LOS ANGELES, Aug. 16 (UPI) -- Rapper Master P, known for such hits as "Make Em Say Uhh," says he has created a new family-friendly TV network for U.S. audiences.

The rapper, whose real name is Percy Miller, said his Better Black Television network will begin airing in 2009, offering "a new brand of superior programming" for audiences of various ages, The Hollywood Reporter said Friday.

"I believe that there is a market in our community for a new diverse network that provides a new brand of superior programming that caters to all aspects of television, from reality to original programming," he said.

Miller, whose entrepreneurial efforts have also included a clothing line and sports talent agency, recognized BET founder Bob Johnson for influencing his approach to TV entertainment.

"I remember him telling me back in the day that if you wanted to know real estate, you've got to hang out with real estate investors. If you wanted to know sports, you've got to hang out with athletes," Miller said. "I wanted to know TV, so I hung out with Bob and learned the TV game from one of the best in the business."
